TikTok migrates US user data to Oracle servers and ensures information security

TikTok said it has completed migrating information about its US users to Oracle's servers, which could address US regulatory concerns about data integrity in the popular short-form video app. The move, first reported by Reuters, comes nearly two years after a US national security body ordered parent company ByteDance to divest TikTok amid concerns that US user data could be leaked to the Chinese communist government. TikTok is one of the most popular social media apps in the world with over a billion active users worldwide and counts the United States as its largest market. The US is increasingly scrutinizing app developers about the personal data they process, particularly when some of it concerns the US military or intelligence agencies. The order to sell TikTok was not enforced after Joe Biden replaced Donald Trump as President of the United States last year. However, the body, known as the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), continued to raise conce

Surfshark Shuts Down VPN Servers In India After ExpressVPN. This is in response to the Government's Order

Surfshark, a virtual private network (VPN), provider in India, announced Tuesday that it will shut down its servers due to the government's directive requiring VPN service providers to keep logs for 180 days and to collect customer data for five years. According to the company, which is based in the Netherlands, it operates under a strict "no logs" policy. Therefore, the new government requirements are against its "core philosophy." ExpressVPN pulled all its VPN servers from the country last week in response to the government order. Surfshark stated that India's physical servers would be closed before the new law takes effect. Instead of deploying physical servers in India, the company will introduce virtual Indian servers. These servers will be located in Singapore or London. Virtual servers will be provided with the same functionality but not be physically located in India. Surfshark's move is similar to ExpressVPN, which last week removed VPN server

Ericsson and Deutsche Telekom use solar and wind energy for 5G cell towers in Germany

Ericsson and Deutsche Telekom harness the power of wind and sun at an energy-hungry 5G cell site in Germany to hedge against rising electricity costs. With already high bills rising, energy-intensive European companies are looking for innovative ways to secure reliable, low-carbon energy. Telcos have an added incentive to cut costs as they also have to spend $872 billion (around Rs.67.59,700) globally to roll out next-generation 5G networks by 2030, Morgan Stanley. "The energy cost of our sector is about $25 billion (approx. Rs. 1.93.768 billion) per year, probably closer to $30 billion (approx. Rs. 2.32.522 billion) at the prices of the current energy problems.", said Mats Pellbäck Scharp, head of Ericsson. Sustainability said in an interview. "So it's about the same size as investing in radios and stuff." According to Ericsson, the 5-kilowatt wind turbine and solar panels could theoretically power the entire Dittenheim site, about 193 kilometers north of Mun
